What does -았/었- (at eot) mean in Korean?

How to Use

Used to talk about something that already happened.

Rule: Use -았- after a stem with ㅏ or ㅗ (가다 → 갔어요, 좋다 → 좋았어요), and -었- after any other vowel (먹다 → 먹었어요). Verbs ending in 하다 become 했- (공부하다 → 공부했어요).

Examples

어제 친구를 만났어요.

I met a friend yesterday.

밥을 먹었어요.

I ate.

재미있었어요.

It was fun.
