How to use 밖에 (bakke) in Korean — "only (nothing but)"

How to Use

Used to say there is nothing more than this; always followed by a negative.

Rule: The verb must be negative — say 물밖에 없어요, never 물밖에 있어요. It replaces 이/가 and 을/를, so do not stack particles.

Examples

천 원밖에 없어요.

I only have a thousand won.

한 명밖에 안 왔어요.

Only one person came.

이것밖에 못 해요.

This is all I can do.
