Used to report something you personally observed and found notable.

Rule: This is 반말 and sounds slightly bookish. In everyday speech -더라 is more natural, and -더군요 is the polite form. You cannot use it about your own feelings or actions.

It was bigger than I expected.

한국 음식이 맵더군요.

Korean food was spicy, I found.

사람이 정말 많더군요.

There really were a lot of people.
