What does -어서 (eoseo) mean in Korean?

How to Use

Used to give a reason, or to connect two actions in order.

Rule: Choose -아서 after a stem with ㅏ or ㅗ (가서, 좋아서), -어서 elsewhere (먹어서), and 해서 for 하다 verbs. Never add a tense marker before it, and never use it before a command or suggestion — use -으니까 for those.

Examples

배가 고파서 밥을 먹었어요.

I ate because I was hungry.

늦어서 죄송해요.

Sorry I'm late.

카페에 가서 공부했어요.

I went to a cafe and studied.
