Meeting After a Long Time

What does -은 지 (eun ji) mean in Korean?

How to Use

Used to say how much time has passed since something happened.

Rule: After a stem ending in a consonant, use -은 지 (먹은 지). After a vowel or ㄹ, drop the 은 (온 지, 산 지). Finish with a length of time plus 됐어요 or 지났어요, both meaning 'it has been' — 온 지 2년 됐어요.

Examples

It's been six months since I came to Korea.

배운 지 얼마 안 됐어요.

I haven't been learning long.

만난 지 오래됐어요.
