What does -으러 가다 (eureo gada) mean in Korean?

How to Use

Used when you move somewhere with a purpose.

Rule: After a stem ending in a consonant, use -으러 (먹으러 가요). After a vowel or ㄹ, drop the 으 (보러 가요, 놀러 가요). It only works with verbs of movement — 가다 (go), 오다 (come), 다니다 (attend regularly).

Examples

밥 먹으러 가요.

Let's go eat.

친구 만나러 왔어요.

I came to meet a friend.

책 사러 서점에 갔어요.

I went to the bookstore to buy a book.
