How to use 이란 (iran) in Korean — "what we call ~; as for"

How to Use

Used to raise a topic or to define what something really is.

Rule: After a noun ending in a consonant, use 이란 (사랑이란). After a vowel, drop the 이 (친구란). It sounds thoughtful or literary, so it fits reflections more than casual chat.
