A Hard Talk

솔직해지는 용기

We met at our usual café, but something felt heavy. "I'm afraid I have some news you won't love," I said. She put down her cup and waited.
"To be honest, I've felt this way for a while," I admitted. It wasn't easy to say out loud. But hiding it was only making things worse.
"I don't think we want the same things anymore," I went on gently. She nodded slowly, like she already knew. Sometimes the truth is quiet.
"The thing is, I didn't know how to bring it up," I explained. I'd been carrying it for weeks. Saying it finally felt like setting something down.
We sat in silence for a moment, but it wasn't cold. "I hope we can still be honest with each other," I said. She smiled, just a little.
