I took a number and waited my turn. "I'm here to open a checking account," I said at the window. She slid a form across the counter.
The vending machine only took coins. "Could you break a twenty for me?" I asked the teller. She counted out smaller bills with a smile.
I read the form twice before signing. "Is there a fee for transferring abroad?" I asked. She pointed to a small line at the bottom.
The bill had a few charges I didn't recognize. "How much do I owe in total?" I asked. She printed a clear summary for me.
I reached for my wallet at the counter. "Can I pay by card, or is it cash only?" I asked. She tapped the little machine and said either works.
