It's seven in the morning, and the kitchen is busy. I have to leave by eight today. So I move a little faster than usual.
I don't drink coffee in the morning. I prefer warm tea instead. It wakes me up gently.
My roommate can't find her keys. "Let me help you look," I say. We find them under the newspaper.
"Thank you for helping me," she says, smiling. A small kindness makes the morning lighter. We both feel good.
I just wanted to enjoy the quiet before the day got loud. The morning was simple, but nice. Sometimes ordinary days are the best ones.
