The little orange light blinked at me. "We're running out of gas," I told her. We pulled into the next station just in time.
The brake lights stretched on forever. "We're stuck in traffic again," I sighed. She turned up the music to keep us sane.
A cyclist swerved out from between two cars. "Watch out for the bike!" I said quickly. She braked smoothly and we both exhaled.
We had been driving for almost three hours. "Let's pull over for a quick break," I suggested. We stretched our legs at a small rest stop.
The clock and the traffic both looked grim. "We'd better leave now to beat the rush," I said. She grabbed her keys without arguing.
