The radiator clanked and gave off no heat. "There's something wrong with the heater," I told the landlord. He promised to send someone by noon.
Water was pooling under the kitchen sink. "Can you take a look at the pipe?" I asked the plumber. He crouched down and got to work.
The strange sound had bugged us for days. "It's been making a clicking noise," I explained. He nodded like he'd heard it before.
The leak was getting worse by the hour. "How soon can you come out?" I asked. He said he could be there within the hour.
The repair guy left and it broke again that night. "Of course — just my luck," I muttered. We laughed because there was nothing else to do.
