I almost ordered small, then changed my mind. "Actually, make it a large, please," I said. It was going to be a long morning.
The corner table had one empty chair left. "Mind if I sit here?" I asked the man beside it. He smiled and moved his bag.
I grabbed my drink and looked for a spot. "I'll be at the table by the window," I texted. She found me there ten minutes later.
The line stretched almost out the door. "Is it always this busy in the morning?" I asked. The barista laughed and said most days.
The barista already knew my usual order. "Same as last time, please," I said with a grin. She started it before I finished talking.
