I hung up the phone with a heavy sigh. "Our weekend plan fell through," I told her. We sat quiet, then started brainstorming.
Neither of us had the energy tonight. "Can we take a rain check on dinner?" I asked. She agreed, relieved I'd said it first.
The picnic was clearly off with this rain. "Okay, Plan B is a movie at home," I said. Honestly, it sounded even better.
Both better options were off the table now. "We'll have to drive instead of fly," I said. It was longer, but at least it was certain.
We didn't get the tickets despite trying hard. "Ah well, better luck next time," I shrugged. We already had our eyes on the next show.
